Remembrance Sunday 2018 in Hawarden

2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Hawarden’s Annual Remembrance Service is organised by Hawarden Community Council on behalf of The Hawarden and Ewloe Royal British Legion. This year it will be held on Sunday 11th November.

The Service will be preceded by a parade from the Gladstone Playing Fields Car Park to the Hawarden Memorial. The Parade will assemble at Gladstone Playing Fields Car Park at 10.30am and commence at 10.40am, arriving at the Hawarden Memorial at 10.50am, where the Service and Wreath Laying will take place.

To mark the Centenary, Hawarden Comminuty Council, together with Broughon & Bretton Community Council, will be joining other communities all over the country and further afield by taking part in “Battles Over – A National Tribute”. This will take place from 6.55 p.m. when the Last Post will be played locally and across the country.  At 7.00 p.m. WWI Beacons will be lit across the nation and at 7.05 p.m. the Church Bells at St. Deiniols and St. Marys Church will ring out along with other churches across the nation.

Guests are requested to attend by no later than 6.30pm.
